Saturday we went on a day cruise of the Amalfi Coast. We had Sammi outside from sunup to sunset and managed not to turn her into a crispy critter. She and I have the same beauty regime now – each morning we slather on the Coppertone Sport SPF 30, and that is it. Maybe some lip balm. Now you know my “beauty secrets”.
We cruised the Tyrrhenian Sea and saw some great views of the Sorrentina Peninsula. We went by the island of Capri and the boat stopped so everyone could go swimming by the Faraglioni. However, the boat only stopped for about 15 minutes so I didn’t get to swim and that was kind of a bummer. Jack jumped in for a little bit, then we had to change the baby. That was a 2-person job there on the rolling deck of the boat with her in a lounge chair. By the time we got done with that and it was my turn to go in, the boat took off. We stopped at Positano to let some people off, but we kept going to Amalfi.
It was really beautiful but we only got to spend 2 hours there, so we want to go back. The cruise was fun, but we spent a lot more time on the boat than we expected. The trip on the boat lasted from 9 am to 7 pm. So, out of a 10-hour trip 8 of them were at sea. We thought there would be more time on land, to shop and hang out on the beach and what not. It was still pretty fun and a good way to see a lot of the area.
While in Amalfi we went to the Amalfi Cathedral. This is where the bones of Jesus’ first apostle, Saint Andrew, are held. The area is also famous for its lemons and limoncello…mmmm, limoncello.
